What is Bifidobacterium lactis HN019?

Bifidobacterium lactis HN019® is a well-researched probiotic strain, first isolated from yoghurt in New Zealand. Since then, it has been the subject of more than 180 scientific publications and studied in over 40 human clinical trials¹.

HN019® is recognised for its safety, stability, and resilience. Research shows it can survive stomach acid and bile, allowing it to reach the colon alive, where it interacts with the gut environment¹.

Scientific Research: HN019

HN019® has been investigated in human clinical trials exploring areas such as bowel regularity, constipation, digestive comfort, and immune function. It has also been studied in relation to gut transit time.

Across these studies, HN019® has been tested in a wide range of participants from children to adults, pregnant women, and older adults consistently demonstrating an excellent safety record. You can explore a selection of these publications in our research library.

Where You’ll Find It

HN019® can be found in some probiotic supplements worldwide, either on its own or in combination with other strains. However, in multi-strain supplements it is often included at a dose lower than the dose studied in the clinical trials.

At Evidose, we include HN019® in our Live Biotic Daily+ formula at a dose consistent with those used in published research.
